Electricity on-selling submission

The Property Council has provided a submission on the Department of Energy and Water Supply’s Regulatory Impact Statement (RIS) which explored the potential mandatory provision of electricity rebates for on-supply customers and widening the availability of the Energy and Water Ombudsman (EWOQ).

On-suppliers may include owners of retirement villages, manufactured homes parks, boarding houses, caravan parks and aged care facilities.
The RIS outlined three options for administering energy rebates to eligible residential customers, and two options for improving small on-supply customer access to EWOQ.

The Property Council recommended that if a mandatory obligation is placed on Queensland on-suppliers to apply and administer the Queensland Government energy rebate, a fair and equitable processing fee needs to be established, and a review of the administrative procedures for applying for rebates undertaken to streamline and simplify the process.
