The Queensland Government have announced that the Build-to-Rent pilot project will proceed to a Request for Detailed Proposal stage. Since the initial announcement of the pilot project in the 2018 Mid Year Fiscal and Economic Review (MYFER), the government has requested Expressions of Interest (EOI) from proponents to showcase their capability to deliver the affordable housing model.

The latest Request for Detailed Proposal phase is now asking proponents to provide further detailed information to support their proposals.

It is expected that up to three developments may be delivered through the eventual pilot with preferred proponent/s expected to be announced in late September 2020.

The Property Council have long advocated for the development of the Build-to-Rent sector in Queensland. Over the last few months we have been advocating for the pilot program to be fast tracked to attract investment and stimulate construction activity in response to the economic impact of COVID-19.
