The Property Council of Australia NT Division warmly welcomes Paul Fletcher MP, Minister for Urban Infrastructure and Cities on his upcoming visit to Darwin.

Property Council of Australia NT Executive Director Ruth Palmer said they are hopeful that the City Deals funding commitment will receive a resounding YES from Minister Fletcher during his upcoming visit.

"Industry desperately needs investment certainty and leadership from the Turnbull Federal Government on the City Deals Program.

"The sooner an announcement, the sooner industry can embrace the City Deals opportunities and commence stimulating the economy and creating new jobs.

"We are excited about the possible new business opportunities for our members and the benefits of a revitalised CBD for business, locals and tourists to enjoy.

"We call upon the Charles Darwin University, City of Darwin and Northern Territory Government to redouble their efforts and bring this critical deal to a close.

The Property Council NT also welcomes the new discussion around immigration rules that will send new arrivals to rural and regional areas of Australia.

"The Northern Territory needs more people, more workers, especially due to our stalling population growth.

"With Sydney and Melbourne struggling to keep up with new arrivals and the infrastructure needed, regional areas such as Darwin have room to grow and jobs.

"We need to ensure that they also remain in the Territory and call the Territory their home.

"Such an innovative initiative will take the heat out of the current immigration debate and help to build a stronger and more sustainable regional Australia.

"The Malcolm Turnbull Government has talked about Developing the North, well here is a win-win solution that will stop all the talking and start the action."
