Top End talent up for national awards

The Northern Territory has two finalists competing for national recognition at the 2018 Property Council of Australia / Rider Levett Bucknall Innovation and Excellence Awards.

My Nguyen, a project manager with global professional services company Turner & Townsend Thinc, is up against nine national contenders for the du Chateau Chun Award for Future Leader of the Year.

Nguyen has built a strong reputation in the property industry in the three years since graduating from university with an honours degree in engineering.

My’s work underscores the exceptional contribution that young property professionals are making to our communities and our nation.

Operating in remote areas, My tackles a range of challenges from weather to isolation. Her selfless commitment to helping people in remote communities is enhancing access to education, employment and support services, and is ultimately making an impact on overcrowding in homes.

Meanwhile, The GPT Group’s Casuarina Square is vying for the coveted Award for Best Mixed Use Development.

The GPT Group launched ‘The Quarter’ at Casuarina Square in July 2016, bringing a unique outdoor leisure, dining and entertainment precinct to Darwin. The new urban outdoor precinct features 12 eateries, a Timezone, an expanded gym, new parking spaces, interactive kids’ dry and wet play areas, an event space and landscaping that enhances the area.

According to RLB Director Paul Lassemillante, The Quarter “is a new destination that complements the tropical city and attracts locals and tourists. The GPT Group demonstrates, through The Quarter, why innovative physical spaces and extraordinary customer experiences are the future of retail in Australia”.

The awards program, now in its 36th year of partnership with RLB, showcases outstanding projects, innovative solutions and extraordinary leadership in Australia’s property industry.

National award winners will be announced at the 2018 Property Council of Australia / Rider Levett Bucknall Innovation and Excellence Awards Gala Dinner, to be held at the ICC Sydney Convention Centre on Friday 11 May 2018. Tickets are now on sale.
