Property Council’s 100 Women in Property program grows in NSW
The Property Council of Australia’s 2017 100 Women in Property program is being launched today with 175 participants in NSW alone.
The program, supported by the GPT Group nationwide, brings together women who are aspiring to a senior leadership position in the property industry with current senior leaders and decision makers to promote, support and foster greater diversity.
The program is founded on the personal commitment of Property Council members to champion women in their organisation or business sphere who they believe would benefit from further networking, profiling and professional development opportunities.
“The 100 Women in Property program has been a great success with the number of participants almost doubling in NSW in this its second year,” Property Council NSW Executive Director Jane Fitzgerald said today.
“With more than 500 participants across the country the program has already far outgrown the target to sponsor 100 women nationwide each year.”
Ms Fitzgerald said 99 per cent of the program’s 2016 participants said they would recommend the program to a colleague.
In 2017 the program will run from March through December and will include exclusive 100 Women in Property networking events, the opportunity to attend a Property Council committee meeting and attend a number of events during the year with the participant’s sponsor.
“It is particularly encouraging to see the program’s development and growth in NSW – 100 per cent growth indicates an industry in NSW that is embracing diversity,” Ms Fitzgerald said.
“It builds on our other diversity achievements – 50 per cent female representation on NSW Property Council committees, meeting the Panel Pledge at every event and a Diversity Committee that is leading the way through the programs it supports.”
Ms Fitzgerald diversity matters because a diverse workforce is a better and more resilient workforce with increased engagement and productivity. Diverse leadership also leads to better decisions and is a key strategy ‘smart’ companies are employing to get a jump on their competitors.
